So I posted a cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana.
It got a 1.84 score.
I don't know why.
If someone could review it for me and tell me why it has such a low score, that'd be great.

well i shouldn't say the WHOLE thing sucks, cause the music is fine. guitar is a bit out of tune, but whatever. But it's the vocals man. They wreck it all. if you uploaded a version without the vocals i'm sure it would have a much higher score.

no problem man, and yeah. well your only 14 assuming your age is accurate on here. With practice you'll get better, you think i was singing as good as i do now at 14? I only wish. and the guitar wasn't drastically out of tune, just the the higher strings seemed to just be a tiny bit off, and just enough for it to irritate my ears. but yeah, definatly for now until you find a singing style that compliments your music better and with practice, i'd stick to uploading vocal-less submissions if you want your ratings to be higher. cause let's face it, newgrounds raters are brutal anyways, alot of raters on this site will just give you a 0 if they dont like it. there's rarely a logical reason.

Oh, higher strings..okay, cool. I didn't really notice, so I just went and recorded with how it was at that moment.
Vocal-less..I'll try that. I'll be able to focus more on my guitar playing too.

like cam said, the singing would be better off not on the track for a better rating, also, i checked that side you got the backing track from, it's cool. but if i were i wouldn't inlcude that behind the song you posted. the best thing would be to use real instruments, mind you if you dont have them or the ablity to play them, the next best thing would be to use MIDI drums bass ect. this way you can have the seperate tracks for when you record your instruments, having them all seperate will make it easier for you to raise volume levels on bass drums ect, therefore giving you a beter mix. Hope that helps. and sorry if I made no sense. I'm not as experianced as my buddy Cameron here, but if you have any questions just ask. I do nothing but spend time making music anyhow so i'd be find helping out
Ahhh, thanks for the advice. Was the mix that I had bad? I thought the bass was a little low, but hey, I can't sound exactly like the original mix. (Or at least, I'll try and use that excuse for a crappy mix)
I'll try looking for MIDI instruments. I can't play the instruments with my keyboard on the Garageband program I use, nor do I have a bass or drums (and I can't keep a beat, so drums are out definitely xD)
